I shop at this Walgreens on Bridgeport Ave. They do have employees that are just wonderful. Just recently I was at this store shopping around and an employee asked me if I needed help. I accepted her help but later decided didn't want the item simply because it was something for my daughter and I felt better if she was able to choose what she wanted. During checkout that same employee insisted to ring up my order. She rudely questioned me about the item. I explained to her I put it back until later and allow my daughter to choose. She demanded that I go get the item and bring to her. I asked why. She very rudely stated that she has been watching. At that point I was not only offended but extremely embarrassed especially due to fact that the checkouts were filled with customers. This cashier was very unprofessional and made a very wrong assumption. I asked this cashier if she would like to search me or my small hand bag. Instead she again demanded that I bring the unwanted item back to her. At that time I insisted her to call her manager as I went to get the item which was nearly impossible for me to remember which pink I chose so I just grabbed what believed to be the correct one. The cashier continued to ring up my order and again I requested to speak to the manager. Customers were complaining about her behavior. Once the manager did sacrifice her time to speak with me, I explained what had happened and how it made feel. I explained that I publicly humiliated. In any event that shoplifting is suspected that situation should be handled by management where there is privacy/confidentiality. This manager didn't show much concern or compassion. I shop at that store daily sometimes more in a day. I know all the employees as they all know me. I spend alot of money in that store not mention the pharmacy that makes thousands off my sick daughter and elderly father every month. I don't steal nor do I need to steal. I work for the Federal Dept of Justice for 15 years now & would never even think of risking not only my job but my reputation over something that costs maybe $8! The manager didn't have much to say besides an apology. Her cashier was the one who owed the apology! My complaint fell on deaf ears and nothing was done. She could have made some type of attempt of resolution, even words of acknowledging what happened to me was wrong. I felt as if this manager had important things to do then deal with customer satisfaction and the unacceptable behavior of her employee which goes to show why this cashier felt it was acceptable to treat me and most likely other customers in such and ignorant manner, because its obviously tolerated and ignored. The same thing with the pharmacy. They tell me at 10am my prescriptions will be ready by 3pm for pick up. I show up at 4-4:30pm and they tell me they're not ready!!! This has happened to me and many others. Yet it continues regardless of loads of complaints. They obviously don't care and I blame management!! Its unsettling especially when you just want to get out of there and there's only one cashier trying to do her job as best she can with a line of 10 waiting customers who also just want to leave. Then the cashier calls for help yet no help comes. Instead they announce that cosmetics has a open register, or photos. When most are waiting for tobacco products. The only thing keeping that Walgreens alive is that pharmacy which has also taken a turn for its worst this past year. Our Bridgeport Ave is booming and competition will destroy Walgreens if things don't change.
